Italy to Great Britain
December 21, 1922

This seems hardly the subject for a Christmas note!
It was sent from Domenico di Fl........ within Florence to London.
The stamps are a pair of common 25c blue definitives issued in 1908 (Scott 100).

Of course, what makes this postcard so compelling
is the dark visage of a young Benito Mussolini.
He had only recently become Prime Minister.
Hardly a fit subject for a Christmas note!

The text of the note is interesting as well:
The New Italian "Napoleon"!
To wish you a happy Xmas &
New Year, & with remembrances
to Miss Whittingham & her
friend.  From
E.M. Benn
