Today in Postal History
Norway to United States
October 28, 1918
This cover from near the end of World War I was censored on its
arrival in the United States.
It was postmarked Kristiania and cancelled with a machine roller cancel.
The Congoleum Company made (and still does make) linoleum
flooring material
which would be of interest to the shipping company which sent the letter.
The shipping company is still in business.
The cover is franked with 20c deep ultramarine of 1910 (Scott 85).
