This souvenir card was posted aboard a cruise ship sailing
north of the Arctic Circle as noted by the circular imprint at the
left.
The M.S.
Kungsholm was built by Blohm and Voss in Hamburg in 1928.
The 21,250 ton vessel carried 1,544 passengers.
It was operated by the Swedish American Lines until 1941
when it was sold to the United States Government, probably for use in
World War II.
The card was addressed to Newark, New Jersey.
Newark is across the Hudson River from New York City.
It was postmarked in Göteborg after the return to Sweden.
The card is franked with 1936 20 öre light blue old sailing packet coil (Scott 254).
