Today in Postal History
Continuing the story of the Rhein am Main
Air Mail Post Card Week started yesterday,
this card departed Offenbach and was sent on to Bad Aibling in Bavaria.
Offenbach is just south of Frankfurt am Main.
I am not sure at which one of the Air
Mail Post Card week cities
this flight landed although at least Darmstadt and Mainz were
other cities visited this day.
Bad Aibling is about 45 km southeast of
Munich west of Rosenheim.
This card received two of the special
Offenbach CDS.
The franking is the 10 pf. red
semi-official stamp prepared
for the flights
and the 5 pf. green Germania
issued in 1905 (Scott
82).
This is another form of the cards prepared
for the event.
This card is an example of the 'yellow
card' version of the post card.
It took the same route as the card shown in yesterday's post.
It was also posted on June 19.
The franking includes the 10 pf. red
semi-official stamp
prepared for the flights
and overprinted with a diagonal Gelber Hund and surcharged 1 M.
There is also a 5 pf. green
Germania issued in 1905
(Scott 82).
