Today in Postal History
This 105 year-old postal card was uprated
for its journey
to Osnabrück southwest of Bremen and west of Hannover.
An additional 1 cent green and brown red from the
1874-79 issue (Scott 5) was added to the 2 cent postal card rate.
It was sent from St. Thomas and went
through New York as
requested by the routing note at the top on May 23.
The New York transit mark is a very specific Foreign Transit.
It arrived at its destination on June 4 as
indicated by the
bridge receiver.
