Cook Islands to United States
March 28, 1935
This registered cover was sent from Rarotonga in
the Cook Islands
about 20° south of the equator and as far west as Hawaii.
The Cook Islands are a Dependency of New Zealand.
This cover was probably used to send a selection
of
current stamps to a collector in the East Orange, New Jersey.
The stationery is official 'On His Majesty's
Service' for the Post Office in Wellington, N.Z.
Note the size of the registration label at the left.
It provided space for one of the two Rarotonga CDS used.
When the letter was entered into the United States
registration system it was given the serial stamped '27281.'
The cover is franked with a 4p. deep blue and black probably from the 1933 issue (SG 110).
