This picture post card went into the mail in
Durban, Natal, 100 years ago today.
Its destination was Middle Brighton, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Although the transit was slow, it arrived in Melbourne on March 30.
It was received in Brighton the same day.
Quite a ride for a penny!
Durban is on the Indian Ocean about 400 km
southeast of Johannesburg.
Brighton is on the coast on the southeast side of Melbourne about 10 km
from the harbour.
The stamp is the 1d. carmine Edward VII of 1902
(SG 128).
