Today in Postal History
Hungary to Denmark
February 9, 1924
This cover was posted in Szombathely
which is about 100 km south of Vienna and 15 km inside Hungary.
Its destination was Copenhagen.
Note the use of 924 for 1924 in the CDS.
I suspect this was done, not in error, but to make space for composing
the date.
Two each of the 1923 500k bright violet
Parliament
stamp and
the 200k green harvesters were used to make the rate.
As in Germany in 1923, Hungary was in the midst of rampant inflation.
