Suggested Keywords
for Auction Titles in
Topical Subcategory

The following list is suggested for keywords to be used in titles for offerings of topical or thematic stamps.  Since it would be very difficult to provide categories for each and every possible topic, the solution for both buyers and sellers is to rely on the search engine to find the desired items.  This will be successful if sellers use the keywords for which topical collectors can search.  In general, the titles can exclude the word(s)  in parenthesis.  This will help conserve the limited space available for titles.

For the most effective search, use the search box found at the top page of the Top:Coins & Stamps:Topical subcategory and check the box which limits the search to the Topical category.  More extensive results may be found if the search in text is also checked.  Use of the "wild card" * designator will help catch some of the misspellings and also catch variants of words.  Thus, a search for bank* would return banks, bankers, and banking.  Remember that multiple topics can be searched for in a single search by using the form (atom*,music*,hors*).

The following list is derived from the Subject Index of the American Topical Association in their listing of 1998 Topical Stamp Publications.  Lists covering each of the topics have been published in their literature.  The American Topical Association is the leading topical society in the world.  Their address is American Topical Association, P.O. Box 8, Carterville, IL 62918-0008.
