New Canadians Dated "1943"
The four new
Canadian stamps, changes in denominations,
which were issued because of the recent increase in first class letter
postage rates in Canada, also carry the concealed date, "1943" in each
design, where the original stamps were dated "1942." These
are as follows: 4¢ deep carmine, King George VI, design of
3¢; 14¢ dull green, "Ram" tank; 7¢ deep blue, airmail; and
17¢ bright ultramarine, airmail special delivery. The 4¢
value, as previously reported, was issued April 10th, and the other
stamps appeared April 17th.
