Notes from the Past

New Canadians Dated "1943"

The four new Canadian stamps, changes in denominations, which were issued because of the recent increase in first class letter postage rates in Canada, also carry the concealed date, "1943" in each design, where the original stamps were dated "1942."  These new stamps are as follows:  4 deep carmine, King George VI, design of previous 3; 14 dull green, "Ram" tank; 7 deep blue, airmail; and 17 bright ultramarine, airmail special delivery.  The 4 value, as previously reported, was issued April 10th, and the other three stamps appeared April 17th.
