No More Auto Stamps?
reported that the Motor Vehicle Usage
Tax, responsible for the issue and use of the Automobile stamps, will
rescinded after June 30th. This will mean, of course, that no
automobile stamps will appear after the June issue of the 42¢ stamp.
With the June issue of the 42¢ stamp, a total of 41 stamps will have appeared since the tax first took effect in February. 1942. The stamps in the period were issued in 12 denominations, in four colors: green (1942); rose (1943); yellow (1944); and in purple (1945). The 41 items constituting the complete issue will total $103.89 in face value.
