Subway Mail in New York
New York post office has approached the
New York City Transit Authority with a suggestion that means might be
out whereby the subways could carry some of the mail. New
Brooklyn used to get faster service when the pneumatic tubes (privately
owned) were in operation but the tubes contract was not renewed because
some one of our more recent P.M.G.'s (I don't recall who) felt that
were cheaper and could get around the city fast enough. It
seem the P.M.G. guessed wrong.
