Cow attacks letter carrier
July 13, 1999, will be remembered in postal annals as the day that British Postman Alistair Johnson, 41, was charged and knocked down by an angry cow as he delivered mail along a public footpath in the Lancashire town of Whalley.Johnson sustained injuries to the back and head. He was airlifted by helicopter to a hospital, according to the Associated Press.
"She was a heifer who had calved in the night," said Alan Coates, owner of the bad-tempered bovine. "They always protect their little ones, but this one went loopy."
